Marching Band

The Marching Band is a co-curricular activity for all musicians, meaning that the students receive credit for their participation outside of the regular school day. Every student enrolled in the Concert Bands or Wind Ensemble is required to perform in the Marching Band.

The band performs in concert together with the Grade 10-12 Concert Band and plays music of grade 3 – 4 on a difficulty scale of 1 – 6. As a member of the marching band, students combine musical performance with precision marching and movement.

Individual playing exams are required each quarter. Tests may include scales, selected passages from prepared music, and sight-reading. Grades are based on attendance at all performances and rehearsals as scheduled by the director; playing test scores; and daily rehearsal participation.
