Bandfront Descriptions

Honor Guard

Honor Guard students carry the banners, flags, and prop rifles during pregame and parades. For the halftime performance, these students create props, make sure all equipment is ready on the field for practices and performances, and work the sound system. Honor Guard are required to only participate in the marching portion of auditions.

Majorettes

This squad is the baton twirling unit of the Bandfront. Students are expected to be able to twirl at least one baton for auditions, however, will be taught multiple batons, flag baton, hoop baton, ribbon, etc. once they have made the squad. There are two squads available for students to audition: Blue and Gold Squad. The Blue Squad is for novice twirlers who are still working on perfecting their skills. The Blue Squad qualifies the student to participate in pregame and parades with the marching band. Blue Squad members can advance to the Gold Squad at Bandfront mini camp if the band staff deems they are ready for the advancement. The Gold Squad members qualify to participate in all routines. 

Pantherettes

This squad is the dance team unit of the Bandfront. Students are expected to have backgrounds in various types of dance. The majority of the focus is in Pom Pom, lyrical, and jazz dance. Acrobatic skills are appreciated but not required. There is only a Gold Squad option for the Pantherettes. 

Colorguard

This squad is the flag and rifle spinning unit of the Bandfront. Students are expected to have beginner level flag spinning abilities. Rifle is a new component added to the Colorguard squad so no experience is required prior to auditions. There are two squads available for students to audition: Blue and Gold Squad. The Blue Squad is for novice Colorguard members, who are still working on perfecting their skills. The Blue Squad qualifies the student to participate in pregame and parades with the marching band. Blue Squad members can advance to the Gold Squad at Bandfront mini camp if the band staff deems they are ready for the advancement. The Gold Squad members qualify to participate in all routines.
